REQUEST FOR QUOTATION: SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF FENCING MATERIAL
ASPIRE, registered as the Amathole Economic Development Agency, is a state owned company (SOC) established in September 2005 and is wholly owned by the Amathole District Municipality, and subject to the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA).
ASPIRE has adopted agriculture as one of its programmes to ensure that ASPIRE delivers on economic development of the district. ASPIRE is assisting the Mahlezana community with the aim of addressing, poverty and un-employment.
The Mahlezana project is made of un-employed youth and women from Mahlezana community who were working as Individuals planting vegetables and maize in their household gardens. The project was established by unemployed women and youth from the village. In establishing the co-operative the members were encouraged by the profits that they made from selling produce at affordable price to the community. The co-operative then had a desire to expand and enter commercial farming by producing quality vegetables for income generating purposes. The objective of the project is to improve economic status of its members through vegetable production. The local traditional authority has allocated land for the establishment of a vegetable project. Aspire is to assist the project by procuring fencing material for fencing 1.5ha of land.
